In Pictures: Reseller News Cloud Ecosystem Forum

At the Reseller News Cloud Ecosystem Forum held last week resellers, systems integrators, distributors, managed service providers (MSPs), and others from the channel community gathered to discuss the growing importance of a strong ecosystem in delivering the cloud promise to customers in the country.

  • Sathya Mithra Ashok, Editor of Reseller News, set the tone of the event, highlighting the nature of small businesses in New Zealand and the opportunity they present for cloud adoption.

  • Moheb Moses, co-founder and director of Channel Dynamics, used his presentation to highlight the impact of the cloud model on partners, the key challenges in moving to annuity models, and steps to guide partners in transforming your business to embrace the cloud.

  • The panel discussion at the event brought together a selection of industry experts including Robert Sherry, channel development executive for cloud computing at IBM, Chy Chuawiwat, CEO at Offis Private Ltd., Wayne Goss, regional sales director – Asia Pacific at SugarCRM, and Matt Roberts, group GM at SAS IT.

  • The panel spoke at length on the challenges involved in forming an ecosystem, and the issues that need to be worked out when an MSP and an ISV comes together for a potential partnership.

  • Robert Sherry, channel development executive for cloud computing at IBM spoke about the vendor’s perspective on the cloud market, the need to grow the ecosystem, and the future of the cloud.

  • Chy Chuawiwat, CEO at Offis Private Ltd spoke about the need for flexibility when being an MSP in delivering services to customers, and the need to say no to potential clients when you cannot give them what they require.

  • Wayne Goss, regional sales director – Asia Pacific at SugarCRM discussed some of the points that ISVs need to keep in mind when working on and developing relationships with MSPs.

  • Matt Roberts, group GM at SAS IT gave the New Zealand perspective on clients and ISVs, and the points that the organisation uses to guide it when forming partnerships with potential software vendors.

  • Moheb Moses added his points on the changes in the market that Channel Dynamics is seeing, and the cloud packages that are gaining the most traction among customers in the ANZ region.
