Netgear expands its SMB NAS range to four Terabytes
From later this month Australian small and mid-sized businesses will be able to purchase up to four Terabytes of network attached storage from NETGEAR’s (NASDAQGM: NTGR) energy-efficient ReadyNAS product family. The ReadyNAS line is designed to make it as easy as possible for SMBs to schedule and monitor backups to a secure, centralised storage facility and, unlike a traditional file server system, does not require hours of configuration.
ReadyNAS comes in desktop and rackmount formations and businesses can choose between diskless, one, 1.5, two, three and now four Terabyte disk capacities.
“NETGEAR acquired Infrant Technologies in May this year and since then we have steadily expanded our share of the SMB storage market in Australia,” said Ryan Parker, NETGEAR’s Australian country manager.
“Our partnerships with Australia’s leading distributors mean the ReadyNAS line is accessible to all resellers. ReadyNAS products are supported by a five year warranty, but SMBs with limited in-house technical expertise can upgrade to NETGEAR’s ProSupport service, which includes unlimited phone and email-based technical support.”
NETGEAR’s ReadyNAS products deliver centralised, easy to manage storage that can operate in Windows, Macintosh or UNIX/Linux environments and do not require a costly investment in operating system licences or support staff.
“SMBs have many of the same technology needs as larger organisations, but fewer resources,” said Parker. “We are finding customers are choosing ReadyNAS solutions due to the ease of use, quick install, extensive security features and future-proof expandability of the products.”
The following features make ReadyNAS ideal for SMBs: · ReadyNAS products come with a web-based interface that guides customers through setting-up shared folders and printers. RAIDar automatically discovers the device on the network to enable easy installation. · All operating system updates are applied as a single, comprehensive firmware update. · Can be managed from any workstation via a Java-enabled web browser. · RAID (redundant array of independent disks) technology allows customers to increase storage as their requirements dictate. · In-built hot-swap capabilities minimise downtime in the event of a disk failure. · Supports super-fast rebuild of PCs and laptops from stored images. · ReadyNAS has low power consumption and a special energy-saving mode that automates start-up and shutdown. Users can also set ReadyNAS to sleep during specific times i.e. overnight, which keeps energy bills lower and prevents unnecessary wear and tear. · Supports scheduled local and remote backups. · Automatic alerts tell administrator if something is wrong.
The four Terabyte ReadyNAS products will be available from NETGEAR’s value-added resellers by late December. Backed by 24x7 technical support, the products come with a five-year warranty. Increased technical support is also available with NETGEAR’s ProSupport warranty.
