ZULTYS RELEASES THE MX25 – A MODULAR SIP GATEWAY FOR THE SMALL BRANCH OFFICE
Cost effective solution provides remote telephony at small offices and also connects SIP to PSTN
Sydney, Australia, 27 April 2004 – Zultys Technologies today announced immediate availability of the MX25, its latest VoIP product for the small office. The MX25 extends the functions of the MX250 IP PBX to offices where there are 25 or fewer users. The MX25 also acts as a SIP gateway, either as a stand alone product or when the WAN link to the main office fails.
Small Branch Office Used in conjunction with the MX250, the MX25 provides a low cost solution to provide the full functionality of an MX250 to a branch office, while ensuring that PSTN access is always available at that office. The users at the remote site have complete access to voicemail, automated attendants, presence, and instant messaging. These users communicate with people anywhere else in the enterprise in the same manner as if in the main office and can serve as operators or agents of ACD groups.
Calls to and from the PSTN can be directed either over the PSTN interface connected to the MX25 or to the PSTN interface on the MX250. The branch office can therefore retain its local PSTN phone numbers and calls are seamlessly directed between the systems to provide toll bypass where needed.
“We see a need for the MX25 with most of our medium or large customers,” said Rob Howe, Managing Director, Hawk Integrated Systems. “Customers want to extend the full functionality of VoIP to their remote users. And, with the price point of the MX25, this is now an extremely viable option.”
If the WAN link fails, users at the branch office continue to access the PSTN locally through a dial plan stored in the MX25. The MX25 acts as a SIP gateway and incoming calls are directed to users as specified.
SIP Gateway As a SIP gateway, the MX25 converts speech traffic on an Ethernet circuit to a PSTN interface. The MX25 supports 30 channels of speech traffic and has three slots that can accommodate analog FXS, analog FXO, ISDN BRA, T1, or E1 interfaces. These are the same interface cards as used on the MX250 and provide complete modularity.
“The modularity of a gateway at this price is unique,” said Tony Warhurst, Country Manager, Zultys Australia. “Customers pay for what they need and can expand as the company grows.”
By using the MX25 in a LAN alongside an MX250, users can increase the number of analog extensions to add analog phones, DECT phones, credit card machines, modems, overhead paging systems, and fax machines.
Provisioning and Configuration Since the MX25 is managed through the same Admin UI as is used for the MX250, it becomes an integrated part of a company’s communications solution. This graphical user interface provides a single point of administration for system configuration, viewing of status, troubleshooting, and problem resolution. When used as a stand alone gateway, this user interface provides rapid configuration and diagnostics.
Pricing and Availability Available now, the MX25 is priced at AUD$2110 (inc GST) for the base chassis with an Ethernet port. The prices for the interfaces are AUD $1300 (inc GST) for eight analog circuits, AUD$1950 (inc GST) for four ISDN S/T circuits, and AUD$1950 (inc GST) for a T1 or E1 interface.
