Melbourne, 16th June, 2004 - WebEx Communications has announced that America Online Inc., an interactive services company, has integrated WebEx meeting capabilities into the AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) service. The new service, called AIM Web Meetings by WebEx, enables users to invite attendees and start online meetings directly from the AIM Buddy List feature. "AIM Web Meetings by WebEx makes it easy for AIM users to find the people they need online and start an interactive web meeting with just a couple of clicks," said Edmund Fish, senior vice president and general manager, Desktop Messaging, America Online, Inc. "The service delivers the combined benefits of presence and multimedia web communications, making AIM an even more valuable service at work."
For existing WebEx corporate customers, there is no additional cost to use AIM integration with a current subscription. To use AIM with an existing corporate service, download AIM 5.5, select the new AIM Business Services Communication Tools option, and simply enter the corporate account information when registering.
AIM users without WebEx corporate subscriptions can use AIM Web Meetings by WebEx on a pay-per-use basis. To celebrate the launch, WebEx is giving 500 free web meeting minutes to new pay-per-use customers. The 500 free meeting minutes offer is available to new pay-per-use customers who register before July 23, 2004. To begin using AIM Web Meetings by WebEx on a pay-per-use basis, simply download AIM 5.5 and select the AIM Business Services Communication Tools option.
