EDGE 2020 Goes Virtual
Affordable PRO 5060 brings powerful security, productivity and mobility capabilities to broader market
Sydney, – Jun 17, 2004 – SonicWALL Inc. (NASDAQ: SNWL), a leading provider of integrated security, productivity and mobility solutions, today announced the general availability of the high-performance SonicWALL PRO 5060 security gateway. The PRO 5060 provides powerful yet economical gigabit security for businesses coping with the increasing performance demands and complexities of intra-LAN network protection. Bundled with a year of SonicWALL’s signature Intrusion Prevention Service, the PRO 5060 enables organizations to protect against real-time threats at multiple points on the network from a single, affordable platform.
The PRO 5060 is the most powerful of SonicWALL’s new generation of gateway appliances, incorporating SonicWALL’s most recent technologies and services. Replete with features such as intrusion prevention, content filtering, gateway enforced anti-virus, comprehensive security management, firewall and IPSec VPN, the PRO 5060 is SonicWALL’s latest security appliance supporting the company’s recently announced Distributed Wireless Solution. A single PRO 5060 can support up to 128 SonicPoint satellite access points to provide secure wireless access, as well as providing central management of complete security gateway services for the wired network.
“The market is ready for an affordable, high-performance security gateway that simplifies rather than adds to the workload of the network administrator,” said Tim Dickinson, Regional Sales Manager, Australia, New Zealand and Oceania at SonicWALL. “It is a perfect example of SonicWALL’s commitment to price-performance, ease of use and overall value innovation, whether delivered at entry level or in enterprise-class network environments. We have already had an exceptionally favorable response from our channel partners to the PRO 5060.”
SonicWALL delivers ease of use in the PRO 5060 through configuration wizards that simplify tasks such as VPN and NAT configuration, as well as set up of public servers such as FTP, Web and email. The PRO 5060 features a deep packet inspection engine designed to fortify the network by providing full protection against the most sophisticated blended threats, combined with a scalable architecture for rapid deployment of new deep packet inspection technologies when the need arises. It also adds high-value features such as integrated support for distributed wireless LAN, allowing seamless inter-office roaming, guest access services, and easy integration of an integrated A and B/G access points into the existing security enforcement architecture and wired infrastructure. “We welcome the availability of the PRO 5060 security platform,” said Raj Saini, Marketing Manager for ACA Pacific. “Other solutions in the market tend to be too costly, too complex or not complete. SonicWALL is delivering a powerful, multi-service Internet security platform at a compelling price. The PRO 5060 gives us gigabit security at a price everyone can afford, which opens up new market opportunities for us.”
The PRO 5060 combines a high-speed Intel® Xeon™ main processor with dual Cavium Nitrox crypto processors to provide firewall, VPN and deep inspection capabilities for networks of all types. Advanced networking modes allow the PRO 5060 to deploy easily into most networking environments, including those employing VoIP, complicated NAT modes or multicast technology, or those requiring transparent operation capability.
Available in 10/100/1000 copper and copper/fiber interface configurations, the SonicWALL PRO 5060 is an ideal solution for demanding network environments. The appliance runs on SonicWALL’s proprietary SonicOS Enhanced operating system, which provides advanced networking and security features such as ISP fail-over, WAN redundancy and load balancing, as well as object and policy-based management.
“We believe there is a huge requirement for intelligence and processing power in the security gateway,” said Philip White, senior information architect at the University of Houston, CASA Testing Center. “We are very impressed with the performance of the PRO 5060 we are now using. The bundled services provide an extra dimension of security without affecting the ease of use or the affordability of this appliance. There is no question that it will be a great asset to our secure server room, testing area and Web servers as well.”
Pricing and Availability The SonicWALL PRO 5060 will be available this week through SonicWALL distribution channels. US list prices start at US$13,194 for the PRO 5060, which is bundled with SonicWALL services and products comprising one year of Intrusion Prevention Service; 2,000 VPN Clients; ViewPoint Reporting Software; 90 days of 50-user Network Antivirus; 90 days of Content Filtering Service; 90 days of 8 x 5 support.
