Juniper Networks optimises Zhejiang Telecom network for enhanced revenue generating services
T-series platform helps China Telecom subsidiary accommodate increasing IP traffic and improve MPLS-VPN routing
Zhejiang Telecom, a subsidiary of China’s dominant fixed line carrier, China Telecom, has deployed the Juniper Networks T-series platform to boost the performance and reliability of its Metro IP core network and optimise performance of its MPLS VPN service.
The project, Juniper Networks’ first T-series deployment in Zhejiang Province, required T320 routing platforms in each of Zhejiang’s 10 cities, including Ningbo, Hangzhou and Wenzhou. Following an earlier deployment of Juniper Networks M-series, which facilitated the launching of the carrier’s L2 and L3 MLPS VPN service, the T-series deployment will enable interconnection between autonomous VPN routes within Zhejiang Telecom’s network for more efficient VPN traffic routing.
The T-series deployment will also help Zhejiang Telecom to efficiently handle increasing volumes of IP traffic resulting from the rapid uptake of its next-generation telecommunication services. Designed to deliver unprecedented bandwidth density, performance and dependability, the T-series platforms will enhance the reliability of Zhejiang Telecom’s network, as well as enable the creation of new, rich and dependable revenue-generating services.
"Zhejiang Telecom’s deployment of the T-series will help affirm the carrier’s leadership in the highly competitive Zhejiang telecommunications market," said Eric Yu, vice president, Greater China for Juniper Networks. "Zhejiang Telecom’s biggest challenges are to maintain network performance and reliability, while also accommodating the ever-growing demand for IP-based services. With the T-series platforms, Zhejiang Telecom can deliver reliable revenue-generating services and maintain its lead in the provision of next-generation telecommunication services in Zhejiang province and throughout China."
