Fortinet Selected to Secure Black Hat USA, the World’s Premiere Information Security Conference

Fortinet Chosen by Black Hat to Protect the Event Network and Provide the First Exclusive Showings of Black Hat’s Network Operations Command Centre

SYDNEY / AUCKLAND - 27 July, 2015 - Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT) - a global leader in high-performance cyber security solutions - has been chosen by Black Hat ( to help secure the entire event network environment for attendees, participants and staff at the 2015 Black Hat conference, taking place in Las Vegas, August 1-6.

“Black Hat draws some of the finest security minds in the world,” says Jon McGettigan, ANZ Regional Director for Fortinet, “and they want to be able to tap into the event’s wireless network without fear or trepidation from hackers, snoops and publicity hounds. Wireless access points have been, unfortunately, a target for cyber-criminals at international conferences as they represent the ‘weakest link’ in the infrastructure. By installing FortiGate Next Generation Firewalls and FortiAPs at Black Hat we are putting ourselves in the hot seat as our security measures and throughput speeds will be very closely scrutinised by the thousands of very particular and highly professional attendees.”

Black Hat takes security seriously and has historically developed custom solutions to meet the demanding security requirements of the annual events. This year Black Hat turned to Fortinet hardware to help secure the event network, with an emphasis on best-in-class solutions to meet the show’s stringent network security needs. “We are proud to be working with Black Hat,” continues McGettigan, “to help ensure all business and personal data assets associated with the Black Hat event are protected.”

Black Hat is installing high-performance FortiGate firewalls to protect the entire event network, as well as FortiAP wireless access points in the event conference classrooms to help ensure participants have the continuous, high-performance and ultra-secure connectivity they need to maximise their experiences. Fortinet and Black Hat have also worked together to make their Network Operations Command (NOC) centre available for exclusive showings throughout the show. For the first time in the show’s history, select participants will be able to see how Fortinet’s high-performance cybersecurity solutions help ensure that connectivity at the show is not sacrificed in the name of security.

Since its inception in 1997, Black Hat has grown to be the most respected information security event series internationally, bringing together the best and brightest within the security community and providing a forum for security professionals to learn the very latest in information security risks, research and trends.

“Fortinet is a strong community member, participant and partner in our Black Hat conferences,” said Steve Wyle, General Manager, Black Hat. “We’re happy to be working with Fortinet this year and are confident that our attendees will have the security they expect, without sacrificing their data or connectivity.”
