EDGE 2020 Goes Virtual
NETGEAR (Nasdaq: NTGR) has formed a dedicated business unit to service the telecommunications, Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Voice Service Provider (VSP) enterprises, spring-boarding off the company’s success in the ADSL modem and gateway spaces.
NETGEAR has already achieved considerable success with its new Service Provider Business Unit and is building momentum globally, securing partnerships in Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Japan, South America, the United States and Europe. During the last reported fiscal quarter, NETGEAR’s service provider business accounted for 21 per cent of the company’s revenue.
NETGEAR’s Australian country manager, Ryan Parker, explained, “NETGEAR has traditionally focused on the home and business space, and its expertise in these sectors has enabled the company to emerge as a leader in the ADSL modem and gateway markets.”
To date, the A/NZ division has formed partnerships with local providers such as Engin and MyNetFone. NETGEAR’s US division has formed partnerships with Comcast, TimeWarner Cable and Charter Communications, while the EMEA region has partnerships with companies such as Vodafone, AOL, Sky, Virgin Media and TDC.
Most recently, NETGEAR Australia has formed a partnership with national broadband ISP, Netspace, to become the company’s exclusive supplier of ADSL/ADSL2/2+ modems for the consumer market.
Netspace’s Managing Director, Stuart Marburg, said the partnership was an important strategic move for the company due to the record growth the company has achieved in the business. “We conducted an extensive review of the broadband hardware manufacturers in the market and thoroughly tested a number of brands before signing with NETGEAR as our preferred consumer modem supplier.
"We were very impressed with NETGEAR’s competitive modem offering and its ease of configuration and use for the customer, as well as the support it offered ISPs.”
NETGEAR’s Parker said, “NETGEAR is excited to be working with Netspace. This new partnership means Netspace can add NETGEAR’s CPE to their existing strong customer offering of value for money broadband plans,” explained Parker.
A core focus of NETGEAR products has long been ease of use. “Creating a positive usability experience for consumers is key to NETGEAR’s success. By delivering ease of installation on our consumer products we have reduced our support costs internally. This is just one example of the benefits we provide our partners who work in the ever-competitive service provider space,” stated Parker.
“NETGEAR understands service providers have unique requirements and the service provider business unit has the expertise, resources and flexibility to meet the requirements of these partners.
“The NETGEAR Platinum Service Provider Program enables ISPs and VSPs to focus on promoting their products and services, while NETGEAR adds value through their CPE (Customer Premise Equipment), support programs and third-party logistics,” explained Parker.
Third-party logistics services include pre-configuration to a service providers specific requirements, advanced settings configuration, VPN and voice services configuration, in conjunction with the ability to cost effectively drop ship products to their customers.
