EDGE 2020 Goes Virtual
NETGEAR (Nasdaq: NTGR) has launched a security appliance for small-to-medium-sized businesses that protects the computer network from viruses and hackers. The appliance also provides a secure link over the internet to web-based applications and the corporate network, to enable branch offices to share information, and to give employees remote access to all the files and applications they need to do their job effectively.
The FVS336G ProSafe Dual WAN Gigabit Firewall with SSL and IPsec VPN will support up to 25 employees wishing to access a network remotely at any one time. The FVS336G integrates a powerful firewall with secure access to corporate networks. It provides two types of virtual private network (VPN) tunnels: Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Internet Protocol security (IPsec).
IPsec VPN secures all data that travels between two points. When a computer is connected remotely via an IPSec VPN, the employee has the same access to the corporate network as if they were in the office. Whereas, SSL VPNs give secure remote access to employees using only use web-based applications, and also allow IT administrators to set access rules for each user, so employees only have access to the resources they require to do their job.
Additional features of the new firewall include: · Supports up to 25 IPsec VPN tunnels and 10 SSL VPN tunnels simultaneously. · Four Gigabit Local Area Network (LAN) ports and two Gigabit Wide Area Network (WAN) ports ensure a fast and reliable internet connection. · Integrated four-port 10/100/1000 Mbps switch. · Supports two broadband connections to enable administrators to spread network traffic across two connections, and even two internet service providers (ISPs). · Auto Detect protocol, which facilitates fast connection to an ISP. · ProSafe Control Centre -- a web-based interface, which guides IT administrators through an easy installation and configuration process. · SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) Firewall provides hacker-proof security. · IKE (Internet Key Exchange) authentication makes it harder for unauthorised users to access the VPN. · Logging, reporting and real-time alerts.
The NETGEAR FVS336G ProSafe Dual WAN Gigabit Firewall with SSL and IPsec VPN (RRP: $529) is now available from NETGEAR’s value-added resellers. Backed by 24x7 technical support, it comes with NETGEAR’s ProSafe lifetime warranty.
