VoIP telecommunications company Ufone NZ has bought Maxitel, a supplier and installer of NEC telephone systems.

Auckland-based Maxitel, which was a customer of Ufone, supplies what it describes as a blend of intelligent hardware solutions with services, including a telephony solution of hardware, tolls, lines and broadband for SME businesses.

Ufone, also based in Auckland, maintains end-to-end control over their often multi-site customers’ networks, through hardware and service, alongside partnering with IT support companies who can sell and support Ufone services.

“Ufone is also in the final stages of deploying an upgraded high availability network, to further enhance our capabilities and ability to serve larger and more demanding customers,” said Nigel Rayneau, founder and CEO of Ufone.

According to Rayneau, the Maxitel buyout broadens Ufone's base of business customers.

Furthermore, Rayneau said Ufone's systems are ideal for multi-site real estate agents, the healthcare industry, any multi-site company SME and the hospitality industry.

The company currently services more than 600 companies throughout New Zealand, from Kaitaia to Dunedin, with several customers in Australia.
