Greater Wellington Regional Council has selected vendors for its core system refresh.

It has been a while coming, but Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) has inked a contract with ERP vendor Unit4 to modernise the council's core systems.

The project, dubbed Optimus within GWRC, has been around since at least mid 2016 and Unit4 was selected as the preferred supplier last August.

The project was delayed first by the Kaikoura earthquakes and then extended due diligence and other priorities arising within the council.

On Tuesday 21 August, Netherlands-based Unit4 announced its win with the project to be delivered by Sydney-based partner Agilyx and government software vendor Accela supplying asset management systems.

Unit4's Business World will be the new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform to modernise GWRC systems and help deliver better experience to users.

The project will help GWRC transform its finance, HR and payroll systems, Unit4 said, with the design phase now scheduled to commence later this year.

“Agilyx continues to grow and develop not only in New Zealand and the Wellington area but globally with key business and stakeholders in the different regions," said John Catarinich, CEO of Agilyx Group.

The cost of the project has not yet been disclosed.
