Westcon-Comstor has appointed Simon Goode as sales and marketing director in New Zealand, as the distributor revamps its leadership team locally.

Effective 4 June, Reseller News can reveal that the industry veteran joins the business from Datacom, exiting his role as general manager of products across Australia and New Zealand.

Prior to Datacom, Goode held senior management roles at Dimension Data and Axon, spanning general management, marketing, sales, account management and alliance positions.

“We are very fortunate to have someone of Simon’s calibre join the business,” Westcon-Comstor managing director of New Zealand, Dave Rosenberg, told Reseller News.

“Simon brings a wealth of knowledge to the role, alongside industry relationships and channel experience. Simon will integrate quickly into our existing leadership team and will provide enormous value to the business, vendors and the channel as a whole.”

Goode joins Westcon-Comstor following an internal business review in New Zealand, with the distributor reducing the number of leadership team members to eight to focus on key strategies locally.

Part of this change involved combining sales and marketing capabilities, alongside consolidating the leaders of the Westcon Vendor Business Unit, managed accounts and marketing into one division.

“We have also created a partner experience leadership role to focus on the volume, unmanaged, quote and customer services divisions,” Rosenberg explained.

“Furthermore, we have grouped all of our capabilities and delivery around cloud, finance, solution architects, logistics services and renewals into a technical capabilities management role.”

Rosenberg told Reseller News that the partner experience manager was filled internally by Lance Primrose, who has been running the business during the past 12 months, with the distributor still recruiting for the technical position.

“I have been back in the New Zealand business for just over 12 months now and during this time I’ve reviewed the business to assess how we progress to the next stage,” Rosenberg added.

“We have come off a strong FY18 which finished at the end of February, during a period in which we won four vendor request for proposals and successfully on-boarded Cisco in six weeks.

“We also were recognised as a leading distributor by APC by Schneider Electric, successfully on-board IBM Software and signed an agreement with Pure Storage.”
