Datagate Innovation has completed a fresh round of recruitment, hiring two new customer-facing roles to keep up with new business growth.

Specifically, the online billing portal specialist has appointed Liston Pinto as solution sales lead and Phillip Wang as technical consultant.

“International enquiries are ramping up, particularly in North America,” Datagate Innovation CEO Mark Loveys said. “We also have our first prospects in Australia.”

Pinto will be responsible for Datagate sales across Australia and New Zealand, joining the business from Focus Group, during which he sold Utility products to small and medium sized businesses.

“Liston has a thorough understanding of the products and value propositions in the telephony industry,” Loveys added. “That knowledge is very helpful for our resellers.”

Datagate’s portfolio allows managed service providers to resell services from any combination of telecom and utility service providers, allowing partners to “take ownership and control” of their telecom business.

“Selling a mix of different products has been a big challenge for companies, and it’s this bundling that Datagate does brilliantly,” Liston added.

“With Vocus I’ve sold telephony, power and gas, so I understand the process a company goes through when they try to sell a product different from anything they’ve sold before.

“Billing and managing the end customer’s expectations is the biggest challenge. Datagate provides a solution for these pain points and the industry needs it. I completely believe in the solution and value proposition Datagate provides.”

Meanwhile, Wang joins Datagate from the Enprise Solutions helpdesk, where he supported customers through carrying out ERP pre-sales and implementation.

“Our billing solution interfaces with accounting systems, so accounting-type questions do come up,” Loveys added. “Phillip understands those and can talk directly with customers’ financial staff. Phillip’s expertise in that area will help us integrate customer systems and work together correctly.”

Built on Microsoft Azure, Datagate solutions are designed to handle complex variable billing and management of virtually any service based on usage.

“I’ve always wanted to be involved with building great software,” Wang added. “For Datagate I’ll be providing support to customers, helping with pre-sales, doing implementations.

“But also, an important part of my role is to give customer feedback to the development team. It’s going to be very exciting to help direct the product and contribute to its future.”
