Umbrellar takes Veeam management console to Kiwi customers

Veeam Software has announced the availability of a free management console for service providers, with leading partner Umbrellar driving New Zealand adoption.

Under the banner of Veeam Availability Console (VAC), the offering delivers back-up-as-a-service (BaaS) and disaster recovery-as-a-service (DRaaS) solutions, bolstered by improved management, tracking and invoice capabilities.

The console can be used by enterprises operating in an IT service delivery model across New Zealand, designed to provide centrally managed back-up, data protection and disaster recovery services.

Specifically, such services can be utilised across a multi-cloud environment, spanning on-premises or private cloud, public cloud, remote and branch offices (ROBO), as well as mobile or home workforces.

Operating as the vendor’s largest cloud and service provider across Australia and New Zealand, Umbrellar offers expertise across web hosting, dedicated services and back-up services.

“The introduction of Veeam Availability Console allows us to place greater power and value in the hands of Umbrellar customers,” Umbrellar head of cloud David Howden said.

“Veeam’s commitment to developing tools and supporting its partners businesses, empowers them to support an Always On product suite for their customers.

“We can’t wait to introduce Veeam Availability Console to our Veeam-powered cloud solution customers.”

From a partner perspective, Howden said the console allows service providers to add value by provisioning, managing, and monitoring Veeam virtual, physical, and cloud solutions for customers.

Consequently, the channel can now generate new revenue streams by offering fully-managed BaaS and DRaaS alongside traditional business lines.

In short, the offering acts as a centralised management platform for more than 550 Veeam cloud and service provider (VCSPs) partners across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), allowing partners to on-board, monitor and manage customers.

“From a technical point of view, VAC is a web-based solution and completely multi-tenant,” Veeam senior director of global cloud group APJ Asanga Wanigatunga added.

“And from a business point of view, VAC is a free management platform, allowing our VCSPs to stay on top of their business with real-time monitoring and reporting of their customers’ virtual, physical and cloud-based Veeam infrastructure, with automated billing.

“It’s a win-win whichever way you look at it.”

Delving deeper, key features also include remote network discovery of customer environments, backed up by virtual, physical and cloud-based servers and endpoint support.

“Our strategy is to make it as easy as possible for our partners to provide valuable and profitable services to their customers, and the release of Veeam Availability Console is part of delivering on that strategy,” Veeam vice president of product strategy Danny Allan added.
