Lenovo launches PC-as-a-Service in NZ

Lenovo has announced the availability of PC-as-a-Service (PCaaS) in New Zealand, designed to provide organisations with a fully-managed monthly PC OPEX model combining hardware and services into a monthly fee.
Released in response to the changing dynamics of the Kiwi market, the tech solution is a fully-outsourced services model covering configuration, deployment and asset management, alongside recovery and refresh through a monthly fee, with hardware included.
Allowing a lower and more predictable total cost of ownership (TCO), PCaaS provides businesses with Lenovo products such as desktops, laptops and tablet devices, which will then be configured, deployed and supported for the lifecycle of the device.
“As IT budgets contract, businesses across New Zealand are looking to increase efficiency at every stage of the PC lifecycle,” Lenovo New Zealand Country Manager, Mike Hill, said.
“PCaaS is a high performance end-to-end solution that streamlines asset planning and removes the burden of IT management, so internal resources can be redeployed back into strategic business initiatives.”
According to analyst firm Utilitise IT, on average, 49 per cent of PC lifecycle costs take place beyond the PC hardware itself, with deployment, support, asset and image management costing organisations over $2,000 during a 36 month lifecycle.
In the lifecycle of a PC or tablet for example, the initial purchase of the hardware is only half of the overall cost that device will incur.
As a result, findings suggest that IT departments spend “nearly as much” on the software licenses, management, support and initial deployment as they do on the device.
“With organisations constantly changing and having the need for a diverse range of devices, PCaaS offers customers flexibility while freeing up their balance sheets with a monthly OPEX model,” Lenovo General Manager of Financial Services A/NZ, Dominic Corrigan, added.

Designed to work across SMB and enterprise markets, both the fully-managed solution and partially-managed solution are available through Lenovo and its partners.
“After launching this in Australia last year and seeing the appetite for a solution like this, we’re excited to be supporting this initiative across the Tasman,” Lenovo Director of Asia Pacific Services Sales & Marketing, Daniel Fields, added.
