New Zealand infrastructure and cloud solutions provider ViFX has deepened its ties with tech giant VMware, announcing an exclusive partnership with Runecast, a VMware platform auditing and compliance solution.
To be rolled out across the country, the deal allows ViFX to provide the Runecast platform to New Zealand customers struggling to maintain operational stability, security compliance, or availability of VMware vSphere deployments.
The Runecast software is designed to “proactively interrogate” the VMware vSphere hosts that comprise a company’s virtualisation platform - it compares findings against released patch levels, knowledge base articles, security alerts, and VMware configuration best practices.
“Previously, if you wanted to review a VMware deployment against all known issues and best practices, that would have been a very time-consuming and manual task,” says Neil Cresswell, Executive Director, ViFX.
“Runecast fully automates this operation, and performs validation checks on a regular basis, ensuring customer platforms are always the most operationally efficient.”
Cresswell says the new partnership provides VMware customers with improved security and greatly reduced downtime, by highlighting potential issues and ensuring virtual infrastructure is optimised against best-practices.
“There have been many examples where company’s running VMware were experiencing random, seemingly un-diagnosable, issues,” adds Ched Smokovic, co-founder, Runecast.
“After the installation of Runecast, either incompatible firmware/device driver combinations were found, known bugs identified, or configuration mistakes uncovered.
“The partnership with ViFX will provide the New Zealand market with not only the Runecast software, but also the expert advice and guidance of ViFX, who are respected and recognised as the leading VMware specialist organisation in the New Zealand market.”
