ViFX locks horns with VMware as hybrid cloud offering hits NZ

Cloud and IT infrastructure specialist ViFX has announced a partnership with VMWare to launch a new way for New Zealand enterprise customers to access the hybrid cloud.
Co-founder and director Geoff Oliff says the launch of VMWare vCloud Air provides an “agile, compatible and easy-to-use cloud offering” available to New Zealand VMWare users for the first time.
“The key advantage is that businesses can get the service up and running without having to acquire any new tools, learn any new processes or re-architect applications,” he says.
“It offers security and control, along with a familiar and trusted platform that enterprise customers have been looking for in a hybrid cloud service.”
VMWare vCloud Air works with customers' existing private data centre environments and extends out to all applications – those developed in the cloud as well as existing ones.
Oliff says it will be particularly attractive to medium-to-large businesses which have been looking for a flexible, hassle-free public cloud service to supplement their private cloud environments.
VMWare vCloud Air is available as a “pay-as-you-use” service or by monthly subscription.
“Hybrid cloud is rapidly becoming the de facto standard for the way growing New Zealand businesses are run, as it allows organisations to treat IT provisioning as a consumable asset,” Oliff adds.
“Until now, it hasn't been particularly agile, compatible or simple to establish.”
ViFX is the only VMWare partner in New Zealand to participate in the VMWare SDDC Practice Builder programme a move Oliff believes enables ViFX to provide customers with increased value from VMWare's software defined data centre (SDDC) technologies.
