Harri departs as Synnex NZ begins distie reshuffle

Richard Harri has resigned from his post as Country Manager of Synnex New Zealand, to work for a vendor partner of the distributor.

Richard Harri has resigned from his post as Country Manager of Synnex New Zealand, to work for a vendor partner of the distributor.

Following ten years at the Kiwi division of the global distribution firm, Harri departs the company on good terms, but has so far refused to confirm the company he will be joining in the coming weeks, or months.

“I have been with the business for almost 10 years and have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Synnex,” says Harri, who has been with the company since its inception in New Zealand. “It has been extremely rewarding growing the business and working with a team of dedicated and highly talented individuals.”

Having worked in the New Zealand IT distribution market for 18 years, following stints at Ingram Micro, Tech Pacific and 3Com, Harri’s last day at the company was on Friday May 22.

“I leave Synnex in very capable hands and will continue to work with Synnex as a customer,” he adds.

As a result of the changes, the company has yet to reveal whether a new Country Manager will fill Harri's role, but the distributor did announce a newly appointed Sales and Marketing Manager, in the form of Johnson Ko following an internal promotion, reporting directly to Kee Ong, CEO, Synnex Oceania.

“Johnson has worked within Synnex since 2010 and has a thorough understanding of our New Zealand business,” Ong says.

“We recognise the fantastic job that Johnson has done for us and as a company we value our team and it is great to promote from within.”

Ong says Synnex New Zealand has also been “very busy” with staff training for the implementation of a, new to New Zealand, ERP system to be launched in August.

“The global ERP system is currently running throughout the rest of the Synnex group,” he adds. “In Australia we put the system in place back in 2012 and we didn’t miss a beat - in fact the whole process was transparent to our customers and vendor partners.

“The global ERP will bring the Synnex group cumulative experience together to allow our New Zealand business to continue to scale and provide our customer partners with the excellent service they have come to expect from Synnex New Zealand.

“The implementation of the new ERP will also mean a change to the current New Zealand website and there will be considerable advantages which will wrap extra value around the customer experience.”

Having worked within the Synnex group for 26 years, including ten years as CEO of Synnex Oceania, Ong says he will now spend added time on the ground in New Zealand to assist the local team.

“I am going to be spending a lot of time in New Zealand over the next couple of months to ensure the smooth implementation of the global ERP system and to assist the local team,” he adds.

“Richard has done a great job for us in putting together a high performance team that has delivered strong and consistent growth. We part amicably and wish Richard all the best in his new career working for a vendor partner.”
