King to lead Datacom Australia channel program growth

NZ-based business technology solutions provider, Datacom, has appointed Fred King to the newly-created position of partnering and platform strategy manager for Australia.
King will be in charge of identifying, prioritising and developing strategic partner relationships to enable Datacom to expand and align its offerings into both existing customers and new markets.
“Fred comes to Datacom with a wealth of relevant industry experience and a great depth of knowledge in building strategic partnerships,” Datacom Australia and Asia CEO, Peter Wilson, said. “This is an important role for Datacom and I am delighted with his appointment as we look to aggressively grow our partner programs.”
King brings to Datacom more than 25 years’ experience in Australia’s IT industry. He has held various director-level roles looking after channel management and alliances for Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), Crystal Decisions and Seagate Software, Oracle, VMware, and Avnet.
He was most recently Avnet’s business units national manager, where he led a large team which represented organisations including IBM, Oracle, HP, VMware, Juniper, and Citrix.
Datacom has also hired Peter Stein to lead its Australian licensing business as general manager, where he will lead a national team that is growing and investing in the company’s software licensing practice across the country.
Stein, who joins Datacom with 17 years’ technology industry experience, said, “I’m looking forward to working with Datacom’s licensing specialists to assist our managed services and professional services team improve the outcome of our client’s software investments.
