Renaissance brings in new monitor brand

HYUNDAI Image Quest has appointed Renaissance as its second New Zealand distributor and the first one outside its company structure.
Image Quest has been selling some monitors and point-of-sale equipment —such as touch screens and barcode scanners — through sister company Transtech Distributors, which eftpos company Provenco bought at the end of last year.
JDI is an Image Quest sub-distributor.
Renaissance will carry the full range of LCD, CRT and plasma screens, LCD televisions and the all-in-one thin client terminals.
The agreement has started and as yet has no review date.
Image Quest sales manager Kimm Wray says his company chose Renaissance because it is “a very strong company” and has bought point-of-sale equipment from Transtech.
Renaissance brands division manager Mark Dasent says the new agency will complement its Philips monitor one and help protect Renaissance from worldwide supply shortages, particularly in LCD screens.
“With the shortages, we feel we are missing out on business. From time to time we have a few hiccups with Philips supply, but that’s across the board.”
He says the Hyundai range is cheaper than Philips, and it competes with the AOC brand.
For instance, the dealer price on a Hyundai 42-inch plasma screen with a three-year on-site warranty is $4999.
Renaissance will sell to “the general reseller market”, while Transtech’s business is with the point-of-sale dealers and users, Dasent says.
