New Watchguard man on the ground

AFTER less than a year in the job, Moheb Moses has left the role of managing director for Australia and New Zealand at WatchGuard Technologies.
He has been replaced by former Asia Pacific technical director Sven Radavics, who performed the role for nine months before Moses was appointed in July last year.
Moses, who was based in Sydney, visited New Zealand in February this year to foster closer relationships with resellers and customers. Radavics, who accompanied Moses on the trip, says these efforts will continue.
“A lot of my five-and-a-half years at WatchGuard were spent dealing with the New Zealand market. I have many friends over there and feel comfortable with the market,” he says.
Radavics adds that although Moses’ departure follows a reshuffle at the company, it was a mutual decision. Moses is said to have started his own venture.
The reshuffle has given WatchGuard an additional two staff members dedicated to Australia and New Zealand, says Radavics, who plans to expand this team further in line with revenue growth.
Radavics concedes that some of the vendor’s past decisions were not “always the best”, but says the New Zealand channel is becoming more satisfied by the month.
He contributes this to the recent product launch of the company’s Firebox X range, which he says is one its most successful to date, and to a number of new ventures in New Zealand aimed at raising the brand’s profile. These initiatives include media advertising, as well as marketing activities aimed at end-users.
