Ingram-brand monitors hit US

NORTH American monitor vendors are surprised at a move by Ingram Micro to sell its own brand of monitors.
Last week the distributor showcased its V7 17-inch and 19-inch LCD monitors at an event in Las Vegas.
According to overseas sources, Ingram is also planning to launch its own range of peripherals - including digital cameras, projectors and cables - but will steer clear of PCs and servers.
Ingram has been selling the V7 range in Europe for the last four years and is eager to secure the US market.
Desmond Ling, Ingram Micro NZ marketing manager, says there are no immediate plans to bring the range into New Zealand.
“I can’t say it will never happen but at this stage we haven’t really thought about it,” he says.
Ingram president Greg Spierkel says the company is looking for incremental business and would not displace name-brand vendors with customers.
However, in the US Ingram is rumoured to be targeting whitebox partners to use its own brand over the established brands it represents.
