Vendors unite to showcase products

EDUCATION is the theme of this year’s Ingram Micro Showcase tradeshow, which kicks off in Auckland next week.
This year 53 vendors are participating, ranging from industry giants such as Microsoft and Vodafone to newcomers like Benq and the rebranded Lenovo.
Karen Vincent, Lenovo country manager, says the show is a great opportunity to show off the new brand.
“It’s about showing the industry that we’re still here and using that to get some traction,” she says.
Scott Cowen, Ingram Micro marketing manager, says the show format has changed from previous years. “We’ve put a cap on the size of the stands so that vendors can spend more money on sales tools and promotional material rather than a huge display,” he says.
Based on customer feedback Cowen says the focus is on giving resellers more sales and technical knowledge and a main feature of the show will be 60 seminars run during the day.
To encourage resellers to make the most of the show Ingram Micro will be holding a draw every 90 minutes with $10,000 worth of prizes to give away — to enter attendees must visit ten stands or seminars.
“It’s a bit of fun really. Each vendor is providing one product per venue which equals 53 different prizes and the draw is themed on It’s in the Bag.”
Cowen says Showcase gives resellers the opportunity to meet with most of the major vendors under one roof and they can take advantage of show deals. “The calibre of people on the stands is very high and resellers seem to really value that. On the other hand, for vendors it’s a cost-effective way of getting to a lot of customers.” Between 3,000 and 4,000 people are expected to attend the shows — at Auckland on July 26, Wellington July 29 and Christchurch August 1.
