BEA opens JAFA office

INSTEAD of continuing to support its northern customers and partners from the windy city, BEA has opened an Auckland office.

David Purkiss, BEA country manager, says the level of business in Auckland has got to the stage where an office is justified and he is thrilled to have secured Joanne Bowey as senior account manager.

“We found there was a growing demand from customers and partners requiring an increased focus from us. BEA has a thriving partner ecosystem in New Zealand and will never be a large presence here because we want to drive business through our partners,” he says.

While there are plans to further bolster the team with presales technical specialists, initially only Bowey will run the Queen St-based office.

“It’s a strategic move. Joanne is looking to focus on building closer relationships with customers — you can’t present solutions to a business without understanding its drivers.”

Purkiss says the Wellington region has traditionally taken the lion’s share of BEA’s business, but in the last year there has been significant activity in the northern region.

And, he says, BEA is on the move.

“Our traditional profile has centred around the applications server business but the company has expanded its product mix and is achieving growth in user integration and mobility solutions.”

He says the company’s recent launch of its AquaLogic service infrastructure strategy and the upcoming release of Weblogic Application Platform suite BEA is ready to make its mark.

Purkiss points out that as AquaLogic is cross-platform it has allowed the company to expand its markets and move into new areas.
