AT the recent Tuanz innovation awards, wireless CRM developer Datasquirt took out top honours for its Contact SMS solution.
Julian Smith, Datasquirt general manager, says the award represents the legitimisation of the SMS channel in the contact centre industry.
“For us it’s a sign of credibility and shows Contact delivers what it promises,” he says.
Tuanz judges say they chose Contact for its flexible design and ability to allow a contact centre to gain visible results in a few days, with only modest IT and capital investment.
Smith says over 200 licences have now been sold, both through his company’s direct channel and reseller partner Gen-i.
Datasquirt has also secured its first international reseller contract with British-based Central Telecom, with a focus on the medium to large enterprise market.
Smith says the UK deal heralds a new stage in his company’s development, due in part to a $100,000 grant from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) to develop the UK market.
With the help of NZTE Smith is evaluating the Australian and Asian markets and intends to start with English-speaking nations such as India and the Philippines and to later extend the focus to China.
“It makes sense to start with bite-sized chunks and at the moment I’m looking for reseller partners. China presents a real challenge both with the language and political climate.”
