PREPARATIONS are now underway for IBM’s first New Zealand forum next month and the company says the response has been extremely positive.

Katrina Troughton, IBM NZ general manager, says the event is an opportunity to thank customers and partners.

“It’s quite a unique event in that we’ll have everything in one place. There will be a focus on the challenges the business community faces today and where IBM sees opportunities for its clients,” she says.

Troughton adds that Forum is a great chance to talk with IBM’s clients and a good opportunity for partners to get involved.

Two keynote speakers have been lined up — Vector CEO Mark Franklin for the Auckland event and Andrew Gawith, managing director of Infometrics in Wellington.

Among the technologies on show will be RFID, IP, on-demand computing and Power 5. According to Troughton, party plans for the 50th celebrations are firmly in the hands of IBM’s marketing department but she does anticipate balloons and blue cake to appear at the event.
