Ingram prepares for Great Adventure

Ingram Micro’s team for the Cure Kids Great Adventure Race is talking up a storm in the hope of outwitting other technology teams on the day.

Gary Bigwood, Ingram sales director, says the team sees itself as quiet achievers.

“There’s a lot of friendly rivalry with our mates from Microsoft and Cisco but ultimately our running shoes will do the talking,” he says.

Last year the company entered two teams that placed fourth and sixth overall. It also was the first technology company to finish — an achievement the 2006 Ingram team plans to defend.

“It’s all a good wind-up but at the end of the day this is a charity event. We’re a pretty noisy bunch and there’s a fair bit of talk going on,” says Bigwood.

However Bigwood admits Ingram’s top navigator won’t be participating in the race next month.

“Three team members have competed before so we’re pretty confident, but finishing is our number one goal.”

Bigwood adds he has the utmost respect for any team that manages to finish, however long it takes and by whatever method of transport.
