All quiet on the EMC front

Storage giant EMC is yet to announce a replacement New Zealand country manager, now that Alister Dias has left the country.
According to sources close to the company, Dias has accepted a job with the company in Australia and a new country manager will be appointed later this month.
Dias relocated to New Zealand from Melbourne in October 2003 to take up the Wellington-based country manager role with his wife and three children.
During his two-year stint Dias was instrumental in helping EMC move from a predominantly enterprise player to making real inroads into the small and medium business markets.
He also led an increase in local staffing by more than 60%.
EMC declined to comment on Dias’s departure or his replacement.
From this week EMC’s New Zealand distributor, Datastor, will begin rolling out a joint finance scheme. Dave Rosenberg, Datastor sales and marketing manager, says Datastor Finance is a channel-only product.
“It centres around the ability to finance EMC deals and is an additional service partners can easily offer,” he says.
Representatives from EMC also declined to discuss the scheme.
