Distributor Morning Star has celebrated its tenth anniversary with a move to spacious new premises.
From its Mt Wellington location the company has relocated to Airpark Drive in Mangere, five minutes from Auckland International Airport.
Morning Star was formed in 1996 when founders Wilbur Tarn and Austin Chen began selling imported modems from a garage before moving into a Mt Roskill location.
A decade later the company has 40 staff, warehouse locations in Auckland and Christchurch and has extended distribution across the Tasman with bases in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth.
The company estimates it hasbetween 200 and 300 resellers. Sam Chua, marketing coordinator, says the company is preparing to expand further.
“The technical department has grown so big it could soon have its own premises,” he says.
Moving closer to the airport has already helped speed up delivery times, according to Chua.
AOC, Asus, Creative and Epson are among the brands distributed by Morning Star.
Nick Angelucci, Creative marketing manager, says the company has shown him there is a definite MP3 market in New Zealand.
“I’m keen to see the new premises and hope it will further drive Creative,” he says.
Angelucci says Morning Star provides excellent marketing and customer service and looks forward to it representing Creative in the future..
