U2 desire to drive iPod sales

U2 fever is set to engulf the Apple channel for the next five weeks.
Apple distributor Renaissance is giving away 25 double-passes to the Irish super-band’s concert in Auckland on March 18.
Customers who buy a new iPod from an authorised reseller until March 9 can register to enter the draw on the local Apple website.
A winner will be drawn every working day until March 10. In addition to the concert tickets, winners also get a U2 CD and DVD.
Steve Ford, general manager of the Apple division at Renaissance, says the competition aims to drive customers to buy iPods from the channel as opposed to parallel importers.
He adds U2 tickets are an ideal prize as the band is already associated with the iPod brand through previous marketing activities and the U2 iPod.
