Information management and storage specialist EMC has unveiled its Insignia range, a combination of hardware and software designed for small to medium enterprises (SMEs).

EMC says Insignia combines its own storage expertise with the knowledge of SMEs it acquired through the 2004 purchase of the Retrospect backup and recovery software.

The line will be distributed in New Zealand by Datastor and Lan Systems in Australia.

Dave Rosenberg, Datastor sales and marketing manager, believes Insignia is a great fit for the New Zealand market.

“It’s a continuation of EMCs commitment to both the channel and also the SME market which makes up the majority of businesses here,” he says.

This isn’t the first time EMC has targeted the SME market but Rosenberg says Insignia is its first total solution for that sector.

At the same time EMC has extended its Velocity partner programme to include an SME division.

SME Velocity partners will have access to online training modules, pre-sales and sales support, performance-based rebates and co-op funds.

EMC says the combination of the Insignia range and the support of the Velocity programme gives SME resellers the two elements they need to be successful.

Rosenberg believes this will give EMC a greater presence in the predominantly SME market in New Zealand and will appeal to the majority of Datastor’s resellers.

“Velocity has always been a tiered programme but has had an enterprise focus until now. Including an SME division opens it up to more resellers,” he says.
