Sophos aims to reignite partner support

Sophos hopes to increase interaction with local partners after enhancing its global reseller programme and releasing new products recently.
Channel sales manager Zoe Nicholson says the security vendor has created new marketing material for partners and has increased training opportunities, including web seminars.
“With the new product set and the new programme it gives us a chance to invoke the channel again,”she says, adding there is “loads of resource” going into the scheme.
Nicholson says Sophos is making resources available globally so it is not “re-inventing the wheel” on a local level.
The new training programme designed by Sophos’ global education team is divided into Sales One (which covers product information) and Sales Two (more in-depth information on how to make sales and how to compare with competition).
Under the new partner programme, platinum, silver and gold tiers are introduced. Existing resellers will transfer to the newly-named levels from the old tiers – certified reseller, reseller and partner.
However, Nicholson says the modified tiering system may be a chance to encourage resellers to move up to the next level. “We try to promote as many people as possible to gold.”
This year Sophos has acquired endpoint security specialist Endforce and is looking to increase deployments of the standalone network access control offering, brought into its range as a result. It has also released a web security appliance to round out its suite of email, web and desktop security products.
