3Com says its AirProtect Wireless Intrusion Prevention System (WIPS) has been designed to address security threats to corporate information brought on by increasing deployment of wi-fi networks. It continuously scans the airways and provides intrusion prevention against unauthorised wi-fi activities.
According to 3Com the AirProtect WIPS scans 62 wireless radio channels and provides denial-of-service protection against wireless threats, while preventing up to 20 simultaneous attacks per AirProtect sensor. The system can also disable all wireless connections, allowing enforcement of “no wireless” policies.
