VAD becomes sole distributor for NetApp

Value Added Distributors (VAD) has become Network Appliance’s first local distributor, making the storage vendor’s products available to the wider channel.

Previously, resellers only had access to NetApp products through its two local partners, Infinity Solutions or Revera, says VAD sales director Stuart Alexander.

“Now they can come to us. We feel NetApp is another good fit as they offer a great range of products and solutions. This deal will really extend VAD’s capability and presence in that solutions space.”

Alexander adds that there are exciting times ahead for VAD.

“Because of the deals with NetApp and Commvault we will be looking to hire new staff and expand further.”

VAD was appointed as nationwide distributor for Commvault in September.

NetApp Australia and New Zealand channel manager Scott Morris says it had been working with VAD for a long time in the IBM M-Series space.

“We felt VAD understood the products and the technical aspects of NetApp combined with the ability to create distribution opportunities. It means VAD can goand create visibility with a proper distribution channel and attract new resellers to the NetApp range.”

Morris says in the past resellers were understandably reluctant to buy from Infinity Solutions and Revera, especially if they were a rival.

“Infinity Solutions and Revera will continue to be NetApp platinum partners and this takes nothing away from their great work for us.”

He adds that NetApp is committed to the local market.

“The signing of VAD is part of our strategy to building the NetApp presence and to that end we have appointed Greg Owen to work as our representative in the VAD Auckland office. Through Greg we can engage with the local community.”
