Tripwire takes on Planwell Technology as disty

US-based audit and control solution company Tripwire has signed Planwell Technology as a master distributor to help boost its local presence.
Tripwire ANZ country manager Billy Louden says it chose Planwell because of its BMC enterprise management offerings.
“Tripwire is a major partner for BMC so it’s a natural progression. We also needed someone who was in Australia and New Zealand and Planwell is.”
Tripwire opened an office in Australia three months ago after its distributor there, called Sagergent, went into liquidation about six months ago, says Louden.
Tripwire already has 30 local customers such as Vodafone and Telecom who have mainly purchased direct from the US. Louden says its method of going to market will now be 100 percent through the channel.
Planwell Technology sales executive Ben David says there is a very good fit between the Tripwire products and what Planwell Technology already does in the series management space.
“It fits very nicely into spots where we didn’t have a solution before.”
He adds that it is early days for the product, though the company has received plenty of interest from resellers.
Louden says Tripwire products are a must have for large companies who want to prevent outages.
“Tripwire takes a baseline of your trusted state network and detects any authorised or unauthorised changes from that baseline and reports on the change. We have a couple of US customers who weren’t using Tripwire and had some very expensive outages. An outage can be caused by something as simple as a technician transferring some memory from one PC to another, which means an application can’t run anymore.”
