Fujitsu PC revamps with new laptop range

Fujitsu’s PC division is again aiming to strengthen its brand here with the introduction of the Esprimo laptop range, along with plans for a local office to provide greater support.

It carried out a similar brand campaign in 2005 when introducing the Lifebook range here.

Australian-based technical manager David Niu says a promotional event set for late February in Auckland, hosted by distributor Morning Star, represents a comeback in the local market.

“We’re re-visiting the whole investment in New Zealand. The event is to introduce our brand to a wider range of people and contacts.

“New Zealand is a very different market to Australia with the price point and the perceived value takes time to invest in, and to educate the market.”

The Esprimo notebooks will be offered alongside the current Lifebook range. Esprimo models are priced at under $2000, Niu says. Fujitsu PC will also introduce new desktops here.

Some stock is now in New Zealand and the range will be fully available by mid-February, he says.

Fujitsu PC New Zealand would initially run from Morning Star’s premises, with technical, sales and marketing staff based there to provide local support, says Niu.

The division sought to revive its name here in 2005 in conjunction with then distributor PB Technologies, which carried the Lifebook range. At the time, Fujitsu PC Australia claimed it had received many product requests from New Zealand since its 2001 launch in Australia, but had not been able to fulfil them.
