Phil Presnall has left Microsoft to replace James Caldwell as the local head of Netgear.
Formerly an enterprise partner account manager at Microsoft, Presnall will take up his new role on March 31.
Netgear says Presnall will be responsible for strengthening the vendor’s engagement with channel partners, including its distributors Ingram Micro, Softprint and Cellnet. He will also be tasked with expanding its share of the home and SME markets.
Netgear’s trans-Tasman managing director Ryan Parker says Presnall was appointed because of his local IT experience, particularly in the small and medium business market.
“We look to Phil to work with our specialist channel partners to further leverage Netgear’s market presence in New Zealand,” he says.
Presnall declined to comment on his appointment until he had begun in the new role, which will be based in Auckland.
Former region manager Caldwell left in January. At the time Parker said he would meet with Netgear’s three distributors about the best way forward.
Presnall spent three and a half years at Microsoft as SMB channel manager, partner account manager and as an enterprise-managed partner team member. Prior to Microsoft, he worked at Express Data for five and a half years.
