Former Symantec country manager Richard Prowse is now at the helm of the local office of US-headquartered learning management firm RWD.
The company established a presence here 18 months ago when it acquired e-learning consultants The Learning Curve, which was founded in 1992 and had offices in Auckland and Sydney.
Prowse wouldn’t comment on the changes that prompted his departure from Symantec, but says the subsequent two-month break gave him time to think about the new opportunity with RWD, which he took up two weeks ago.
RWD changed The Learning Curve name to its own earlier this year and the country manager role is a new one for the local office, which has 16 staff.
“I found I really liked the culture and what they were trying to achieve,” he says, describing the private company’s ethos as “utterly different” to public entities such as Symantec and VMware.
RWD designs interactive systems to assist staff with change processes including IT system upgrades, branding usage, legal policies and regulatory changes. Its uPerform product helps SAP and Oracle customers train for ERP system transitions.
Prowse became Symantec’s country manager in May 2006 leaving suddenly nearly two years later. He is a former national sales manager for VMware, has been northern region sales manager for IBM xSeries and worked for Dell for five and a half years in New Zealand and the US.
