IBM award win boosts Ability Software's profile

Industry recognition was just one of the benefits Ability Software gained from winning the Best ‘Built on Express’ Solution at last year’s IBM Business Partner Awards.
The Auckland-based software company earned the award for implementing its AbilitySuite email and document management solutions for US-based company Sportcraft.
AbilitySuite enables organisations to align their email and messaging within their business processes, says CEO Mark Presnell. “We get feedback from business contacts who have heard about the award and we have the award details plastered on the front page of our website.”
Although Ability Software does most of its business overseas, Presnell says the award has raised the profile of the company. “Sportcraft were very happy to help and be a reference. The award gives them the confidence that they implemented the right solution.”
Presnell adds the company was not surprised to win the Best ‘Built on Express’ Solution category.
“We felt pretty confident in that category and with the solution we delivered.”
Four new categories have been introduced for the 2008 IBM Business Partner Awards, which are held in association with New Zealand Reseller News, and for which entries opened last month.
The new categories are Best Energy Efficient Solution, Rookie of the Year, Best Co-Marketing Campaign and People’s Choice Reseller Award.
The People’s Choice Reseller Award recognises individual performance that goes beyond the normal call of duty. This award will allow people working in the industry the opportunity to vote for their selected individual.
The Best Energy Efficient Solution category is for IBM business partners who have demonstrated a high level of understanding of green IT or sustainability, and whose solutions have become an important part of their customers’ corporate culture.
The Rookie of the Year award is for up-and-coming resellers, who show excellence in delivering and supporting IBM’s solutions and services.
The Best Co-Marketing Campaign award will be given to the IBM business partner who, in the view of the judges, makes best use of their marketing budget.
The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 6.
