NZ part of Microsoft’s business productivity suite trial

Microsoft’s Business Productivity Online Suite has been released in a trial version to 18 countries, including New Zealand. The suite, which is part of Microsoft's online services, offers customers the choice of running some applications on-premises or choosing online services hosted and managed by the software giant or its partners.

Microsoft says businesses will benefit from cost-effective deployment of up-to-date technologies, maximising IT resources and reducing the need for infrastructure investments.

New Zealand managing director Kevin Ackhurst says the online services will be a valuable resource for organisations looking to control costs.

“We expect customers to save between 10 to 50 percent in IT-related expenditures as a result of deploying Exchange online, SharePoint online, Office Communications online and Office Live Meeting,” he says.

The local availability has been welcomed by the company’s partners, including Provoke Solutions and Kinetics .

“The platform will allow Provoke’s customers to accelerate their delivery of collaboration tools and services. We believe the offering is a cost-effective platform in our current economic climate, especially as it doesn’t require a large capital or deployment investment,” says Provoke Solutions chief technology officer Brendon Ford.

Kinetics managing director Andrew Hunt says IT partners will continue to play an important role in service delivery.
