Te Wananga o Aotearoa switches to Cisco

A tender to replace all switching with Cisco hardware has been issued by Te Wananga o Aotearoa.

According to request for quotation documents released last week, the Wananga’s data network is built on Cisco Core switches, with infrastructure totalling just over 100 switches and supporting over 3200 ports.

The legacy access hardware consists of Allied Telesyn managed switches and a small amount of Netgear and Allied Telesyn unmanaged switches.

All of the non-Cisco switching equipment is old and out of warranty.

The Wananga plans to replace its non-Cisco hardware with a common platform of Cisco-capable switches.

According to tender documents, the new infrastructure will resolve warranty and reliability issues and offer VoIP features.

The deadline for replies is Friday 1 May. More details are available on the Government Electronic Tenders website under ICCNZ reference 25675.
