Ingram Micro lands local MSI distribution

Ingram Micro has signed to distribute for Taiwanese PC and hardware maker MSI (Microstar International). MSI says this is the first time it has had formal, local representation.
The vendor has offices in 30 countries and says it turned over US$3.2 billion last year. As well as PCs, its product range includes servers, motherboards, wireless accessories and consumer electronics.
Ingram Micro volume business general manager Desmond Ling says the company has been looking forward to having access to MSI's product range.
“MSI has a strong across-the-board product range, particularly in components and barebones PCs, which will strongly complement the brands we distribute to our original equipment manufacturers [OEM] partners.”
Ling says the company expects to carry the full range of MSI products.
MSI Australia managing director Jerry Hsu says Ingram Micro is a logical partner in New Zealand, because it already offers MSI across the Tasman.
Hsu adds the distributor will offer MSI a depth and breadth of reach into the channel that will enable it to build the brand locally, grow its OEM business, and introduce into the market some innovative products such as all in one PCs.
“Our aim is to be branded in the top 10 for notebooks worldwide by 2010,” says Hsu.
