Auldhouse positive about broader CPLS programme

Local Microsoft Certified Partner for Learning Solutions (CPLS) partners have welcomed changes to their partner programme.
As part of the new CPLS 2.0, Microsoft will measure the success of these partners not just by how much of the vendor’s official courseware they resell, but other e-learning and training, and their contribution to the Courseware Library. The library is made up of training materials written by CPLS partners globally.
Morgan Carter, the CPLS global programme manager, and area sales manager Dan Popp, told partners at the recent Worldwide Partner conference the vendor had taken on-board partner feedback that the programme wasn’t flexible enough.
According to the Microsoft Learning Team’s live blog from the event, one area where key performance indicators have been introduced is consumption – a partner’s revenue from Microsoft courseware, exams delivered, courses using the Courseware Library, e-learning vouchers and e-learning reselling. A one-day official course has one KPI point, with a courseware library course earning the same value. One exam nets three points, with three e-learning vouchers or three e-learning IT courses securing one point. The KPIs take effect from January, 2010.
Auldhouse general manager Melanie Hobcraft, who attended the conference, says the new programme is much fairer.
“We do a lot of readiness training that isn’t official courseware, but uses components of it and uses the Courseware Library. It will be truly a measure of what we’re doing, rather than just a component of what we’re doing.”
Hobcraft says CPLS 2.0 is also a chance to be paid for the IP it develops, by contributing to the Courseware Library.
