New Auckland council to reduce telco contracts
- 19 July, 2010 22:00
During the next local body elections, a new Auckland council will be established and the present eight local body authorities dissolved.
The current eight councils have contracts with telecommunication suppliers to provide them with mobile telephony/data services.
These contracts will end and the Auckland Transition Agency (ATA) will standardise mobile telephony and mobile broadband services into a single contract.
The ATA also wants to reduce call costs for handset and mobile broadband devices and ensure that mobile telephony services are still provided during civil defence and emergency situations.
A supplier is needed to simplify the billing management into a single view of all mobile costs for all devices.
The deadline for replies is Friday, August 6.
