The Wellington City Council is on the hunt for a wi-fi service provider for at least three years, beginning in the lead up to the Rugby World Cup.
The council is expecting an increase in visitors to the Wellington region during the 2011 World Cup and wants to ensure the area has good wireless access available to ratepayers and tourists visitng the CBD and main desinations. It expects between 500 and 1000 waterfront-goers will log on daily, depending on weather conditions.
The supplier needs to have a wireless network service for the central city, major tourist destinations and libraries. The council is also proposing an ongoing general wireless internet service in the above locations for a minimum of three years.
Respondents must notify their intent by 4 October.
