Distribution Central partners to push Avaya

Distribution Central has formed the first of several trans-Tasman partnerships to support Avaya offerings.
The inaugural partnership is with data, voice and cost routing provider Telstrom, which offers GSM gateways and IP door phones to complement Avaya’s video and GSM network capabilities.
Distribution Central marketing director Nick Verykios says the distributor will develop its Unity Systems partner portal to increase the functionality of the company’s quoting and configuration tool to include the new products, and will give access to engineering resources and product information.
The new version is currently in beta, and is being trialled in New Zealand before it is fully introduced across both countries.
“When we looked at building the Unity Systems business, we found Avaya had the best third party, or buddy programme, with other technology that enhanced their own,” says Verykios. “But someone has to promote that and take the lead, and that is what we are doing.”
Distribution Central staff are doing demonstrations on the third-party products for local end users, in conjunction with partners, he says.
“We’ve found resellers in New Zealand are open to this [full solution] and are looking for that extra ‘stickiness’.”
Among the other products being trialled under the portal is headset accessories vendor Plantronics.
Distribution Central hopes the portal will be live by the first quarter of next year, and Verykios says the number of products that could be added is “infinite”.
