Microsoft has taken on Craig Gerken to head up its services sales team. The long-time Datasouth Computer Services employee joined Microsoft in February, according to Gerken’s LinkedIn profile.

“[Gerken] is passionate about building great brands, developing great teams and delivering solutions that transform business operations,” a company spokesperson has said in a written statement. “He will be responsible for the Microsoft Services sales team, driving sales excellence and customer satisfaction.”

Gerken held several roles over the 10 years he was with Datasouth, a prominent Microsoft partner based in Christchurch. He started with the company in 2001 as a business manager, according to his LinkedIn profile, then worked his way up to group sales manager and finally general manager.

According to the statement released by Microsoft, Gerken was instrumental in the brand development and market growth in Datasouth’s “customer ecosystem”, delivering “business solutions across the entire Microsoft stack – from ERP solutions to cloud implementations.”

Gerken was general manager when Datasouth was a finalist in all five of the categories it entered in the 2008 New Zealand Microsoft Partner Awards, doing better than any other entrant that year. He left Datasouth in November and was replaced by sales director Hayley Bryan. Gerken’s role is new to Microsoft. He has relocated to Auckland.
