Avnet seeking local channel rep for Oracle

Avnet Technology Solutions is bolstering its New Zealand presence as the company expands its relationship with Oracle throughout the region.
According to Greg Newham, Australia and New Zealand general manager, Avnet is searching for a distribution channel representative to handle its Oracle products. The new hire will be located in Wellington or Auckland.
“Oracle are helping us to identify the right person for this critical role,” he says. “We are very excited about the opportunity to expand into the New Zealand market that this current Oracle opportunity has presented us.”
Avnet has been on an expansion path since the beginning of 2011, especially in regard to Oracle. In January, the company completed the purchase of itX, an existing distributor for Oracle in Australia. In mid-March Avnet announced its support of Oracle products throughout the Asia-Pacific market with new partner programmes.
Avnet Asia-Pacific president KP Tang said in a statement released last month that the collaboration with Oracle gave Avnet a strategic partnership in the hardware and software solutions space. “Our aim is to provide the right combination of resources to help bring more solutions to the market and educate and enable more business partners on Oracle solutions.”
Avnet will provide Oracle partners with channel support, including training, enablement, lead generation, co-marketing, technical integration, services and ongoing support.
Partners will also be able to use Avnet’s SolutionsPath practices to gain industry-specific specialisations in the energy, financial, government, health care and retail sectors. They will also be able to attain expertise in mobility, networking, security, storage and virtualisation aimed at the datacentre space.
Avnet is a platinum level member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork.
According to Newham, Avnet also has plans to expand its offerings here, drawing from the rest of the itX and Avnet brand portfolio, but details have not been worked out yet.
