Adobe prepares for 'explosion of growth' in New Zealand

Adobe has announced the launch of a new channel programme, Adobe Partner Connection. The programme, officially launched this month, is a mix of local and worldwide changes and, according to Adobe ANZ managing director Paul Robson, is “tailored for New Zealand”.
Among the benefits for partners who join the programme, Adobe is giving access to marketing developing funds and a comprehensive deal registration programme. Adobe Partner Connection will be divided into three tiers: gold, certified and registered partners.
“This is a big year for Adobe,” says Robson.
The new channel programme is not the only change the company is introducing.
“In the next 12 months, we will dramatically grow our share of business with new partners,” he says, adding that the vendor is also looking to sign up new partners in New Zealand.
“We are doubling our resources in the country, with over 100 percent staff growth. We are going to add more sales staff in New Zealand as well as more support for users and partners,” says Robson. “For the first time, we will have a technical sales consultant based in Auckland.” Within the next 30 days, the number of Adobe staff in New Zealand will double from four to eight. The company will also open its first Auckland office.
Robson says this is a “very heavy investment” for Adobe but the timing is right.
“There is great opportunity here. One third of our customer base is not on the latest version of the software. There is an opportunity for upgrading,” explains Robson. “Also, we have new products coming this year.” Version 6 of Adobe’s Creative Suite is going to be released in the first half of 2012.
Robson says more and more content is being created digitally which means there are bigger opportunities for Adobe partners to make a profit. In addition to this, Adobe sees the education market as a strong segment with students being trained on Adobe products in schools. “Part of the channel programme will be specialised in education,” he adds.
Robson says the company is going through “an explosion of growth” in New Zealand and wants to take new partners on board as well as increase support for the existing partner base. The company currently has three gold partners in the country: Gen-i, Cyclone and Dimension Data. Express Data is one of Adobe’s New Zealand distributors, along with Ingram Micro. Both distributors are planning to increase the headcount of their dedicated Adobe teams.
“We want to go deeper and wider," says Robson. "More and more organisations are building out a digital strategy. We’re very well positioned for that. Business in New Zealand grew very strongly last year. We expect a very good year of growth ahead.”
Adobe is bringing its channel roadshow to Auckland and Wellington in April and May.
