Computer Concepts Limited has adopted the New Zealand-owned and developed cloud-based SMX email security software as its preferred anti-spam and anti-virus solution for customers.
Director Alan Leigh says a reseller agreement signed with SMX will see CCL integrating SMX with its IaaS, Desktop-as-a-Service, and Hosted Exchange solutions.
“We evaluated a wide range of cloud email filtering and management solutions in making our selection," Leigh says. "It is important to us that SMX is a proven solution. And it is definitely important to us and our customers – particularly government customers – that SMX filters mail in-country rather than offshore and supports such things as the SEEMail secure government email encryption standard.”
Leigh says government organisations are a particular focus for the resellers as the Department of Internal Affairs “One Government” initiative stimulates early adoption of the cloud model by government organisations.
“There were also important technical aspects that weighed in SMX’s favour,” he says. “Design and capability coupled with other cloud and hosted services are infinitely better than traditional solutions. It also runs more efficiently and cost-effectively. The bottom line is that it’s highly efficient, easy to deploy, and easy to integrate into other cloud offerings."
CCL is one of the largest IT services company in the South Island, and has more than 130 staff nationally in its Dunedin, Christchurch, Nelson, Blenheim, Wellington and Auckland offices.
Leigh says CCL is "rigorously agnostic" about their technology partners, and sees SMX as just one component of a bundle of software and services that the company is using for its Desktop-as-a-Service offering.
“We were recognised by Cisco for implementing the first production IaaS solution for clients using UCS technology in New Zealand in 2009," he says. "We now have a mature infrastructure as a service offering, and mature transitioning methodologies to help business move to an Infrastructure-as- a-Service cloud services. Now we are building on that to offer a truly market leading Desktop-as-a-Service cloud solution. This is a major strategic growth focus for CCL.”
